With time and discoveries, a Metalhead usually goes heavier with his music. Always louder, faster. Many of us started with Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Slayer, to end up listening to more extreme genres. I am among these people, and I really enjoy my lovely Death Metal. But sometimes, it is also nice, and necessary I think, to remember where we are from, and to go back to our origins. The roots of Metal. Rock and Heavy Metal. Some today's bands belong to this stream, and bring back a similar sound, with their own style of course. This is how I consider Grand Massive. This is how I feel them. Lighter than what I usually listen to, but a band inspired by the foundations of Metal and by something very close to my Black Heart, Rock.

Is there a better way to end a long and stressful day than a Metal Gig? What if , for this concert, good bands are playing, beer is cheap and friends are attending it as well? It sounds like an awesome night, right? Well, the stars were aligned on Wednesday night, when the Darkness took over StudentenStadt.

I love concerts. The actual gig, of course, but also the few hours following it. I like sending text messages to my friends while in the subway/bus to tell them what they just missed, or to give them the bands' names so they can check them out. I like coming back home and having my mind blown. I like sitting in front of my laptop right after the gig and listening to the bands I just saw for 2 or 3 hours, even if I'm exhausted and it's 3h am. I like learning the lyrics by heart within a couple of hours.

These lines summarize pretty well how I felt after the Chaos Blast Zone concert featuring Grand Massive, Smoke the Sky and Woe. We were served some awesome Heavy Rock and Metal.

How did you celebrate Easter this year? With your Family? I wish I would have done that, but the Atlantic ocean doesn't allow me to do so. Well, when family is not an option, the only thing left is Metal. Dear Old Friend. Well, dear friend for sure, but the age factor depends on how you look at it. In my case, I am a longtime Heavy, Trash and Death Metal fan, but the Black side of my beloved music still remains unknown to me. Why? I don't really know. I think I had a psychological blockage for years because of the very graphic and gore pictures on my neighbor's T-Shirts when I was a kid. Anyway, the style is growing on me now, and I want to explore it. I need to start somewhere, and I thought The Dark Easter Metal Meeting was a great opportunity.
I hope you had a Metal Easter! Mine was great, full of concerts. The first one was on Saturday night, and I was very excited by it. Hi Metalheads!

I have been waiting for this gig for so long! I know Devildriver for many years now, but I never had the chance to see them live. Bad timing. So Monday Night was the Night.

Devildriver is currently hitting the European roads as part of their almost Worldwide tour for their Album "Winter Kills", which was released in August 2013. I really don't know how I've managed it, but I've kinda missed this album. I've learned about it almost 3 months after the release. I know, I know, Shame on me! Hopefully, attending this gig has washed away this sin.

The last post ended with Skrotum (\m/). They were followed by Rapture. They gave an awesome show! I find their sound original. From what I've heard from them (only 45 minutes, I'm gonna dig more into their music, count on me), they have this heavy sound and low frequencies that we usually find in Death Metal, but at some point, their rhythm was almost...happy, or enthusiastic? Do you know what I mean? I liked it, it was different, but still very Metal. Nevertheless, I must say they've won my heart with their attitude: they don't take themselves seriously. They just have fun on the stage, and they want you to have fun as well, which was the case, obviously.

Hi Metalheads!

One of my New Year Resolution was to support my Locals, especially when we talk about music. I want to discover the local metal scene of Munich, and to support these bands that work so hard to make good music. And yesterday was an amazing occasion to emerge myself in the Death/Black Metal scene of my adopted town. I was pleasantly surprised by the awesomeness I've seen and heard, because the 8 bands were good. According to my personal taste, some were more outstanding than others, but still, all bands gave a good show. 8 bands, one crazy night.

I have a discovery for you today! This band from Berlin is called Thunder and Lightning.

They have an interesting sound, and depending of the song you're listening, the way you describe them would change, I think. Well, I listened to many of their songs repeatedly to try to describe what they do. And I like it. I like the fact you can't put a simple label on them. You should not stay in a box, and these guys got this.

At first sight, when I listen to Shadowlight, they sound more Heavy Metal. But then, you watch the video of Torn in two, and I doubted. This song sounds way more Power Metal, lighter and more harmonic. But with a heavier guitar at some points. But even if they kind of mix metal sub-genres, they still stay pretty old-school. I don't feel any other influences than Metal in their music. They really don't fall in the "New Metal" category. A modern old-school band? Can I say it?

I like them, and I hope they'll come in Munich at some point, I'd love to see them live!

Here is the Teaser of their Album "In Charge of the Scythe". It gives you a good overview of their style what they do. Let me know what you think about them!

What's up?

I'm so glad to write on my blog again! I've been gone for a while, I wasn't able to type or to write, because I broke my right wrist last month. I got a surgery, it was that bad. But now, I have 3 Titanium nails in my bones. That's Metal as F*ck! \m/!!

I hope you're doing well!

I have not posted anything for a while now, I had a huge rush at work before leaving for Canada, and then, my holidays took all my time. When you see your family and friends once a year, you focus on them when you have the chance to!

Since I am still in Canada for few days, I thought I would write a post on a band from Quebec City, where I used to live for about 8 years. Also, the band is planning a European tour in April (with few dates in Munich!), so you might hear of them in a near future. So here it is, Chasse-Galerie!

There are a lot of good concerts in Munich lately, choosing is difficult. I've decided to attend Death Angel concert last Wednesday (04.12.13). Since I really, REALLY, like their new album "Dream calls for Blood", I didn't want to miss them. I was not disappointed!

A quick post today to give you my song of the Week! I'll see Death Angel in concert on Wednesday night (4.12.14), so I've been listening to their album a lot lately, to get in the mood. I love it so much!

I can't wait to see them! They play with Dew-Scented, Extrema and Adimiron (which I don't know). I'll write something about it at the end of the week, but for the moment, enjoy this one! All the songs on their new album "The Dream calls for Blood" are pretty good, it was hard to choose. But I have something for "Fallen" ^.^

You would be amazed by how many good bands I discover via Twitter! Recently, September Sky started following me, so I had a look at what they do. They are an american band, from Indianapolis. I would describe their music as flirting between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. They definitely have a hard sound, but they miss distortion\ speed\solos to be put without doubts into the "Metal" category.

Hope you're doing well!

I introduce you to a band I discovered not so long ago. They are not from Bayern, but from my Motherland, Québec (Montréal), Canada.

I didn't know them, shame on me! They have three albums (Concealed (2006 )- a Promo in 2006 - Fragmentary Evidence (2009)) and they are running for more than 10 years. Where was I?! I think it's time I jump into the extreme music from my place.

They have a very interesting sound. It is a progressive Death Metal band, and the adjective 'progressive' is very well represented in their music. They have a very surprising (here read awesome) bass line, which is kinda rare in the Metal world (or it's just me who is ignorant?). And the voice is nice as well, the singer alternates between a very guttural and clear voice.

I discovered them on Twitter. Twitter knows what to recommend to me, haha!

Here is their website, if you wanna learn more about them. But first, hear this song, it's a pure delight!
