The Dark Side of Munich III, Part II - 08.02.2014

Servus Metalheads!

Welcome back for this second part on The Dark Side of Munich gig! Here is the first part if you haven't read it yet (you should!).

The last post ended with Skrotum (\m/). They were followed by Rapture. They gave an awesome show! I find their sound original. From what I've heard from them (only 45 minutes, I'm gonna dig more into their music, count on me), they have this heavy sound and low frequencies that we usually find in Death Metal, but at some point, their rhythm was almost...happy, or enthusiastic? Do you know what I mean? I liked it, it was different, but still very Metal. Nevertheless, I must say they've won my heart with their attitude: they don't take themselves seriously. They just have fun on the stage, and they want you to have fun as well, which was the case, obviously.

After a small break outside and another beer, I was ready for the next band, Dead Alone. How is it possible than I've never heard of this band since I live in Munich, how? They are so great! That's exactly the kind of music I can hear all day long, and not get bored by it. The music is amazing, you feel that everything fits together, the vocals, the drum, the bass and the guitars. Talking about the guitars, I throw the horns at the solos! I must say I was a bit distracted by one of the guitarist, he was jumping everywhere! This energy was very welcome after 6 hours of concert! And shirtless guys are always nice. Just my opinion.

This Death Metal marathon continued with My Cold Embrace. These guys owned the stage like crazy! They play a massive and dirty Death metal. That's the music I imagine playing during a Zombie Apocalypse. It's right in your face, BAM! The only thing to do is headbanging! The singer itself seemed to be overwhelmed by his own music, he hit himself with the microphone, right on the forehead. I personally think he was faking it, 'cause there was no blood and no sound. But still, that was brutal. Check them out, they deserve your time!

The last one was the perfect ending. I liked them before they started to play. When you have a Latin name, you win my heart, it's that easy. Nocte Obducta. I wanted to scream during all the time their performance lasted. I've heard of them before, but I've never carefully listen to them. So much regrets! They have a progressive side that makes their sound unique and hard to describe. The sound itself creates a heavy atmosphere, kind of depressive. I almost want to say romantic. Does that make any sense? They played longer that they were supposed to, which was a big win, and ended the night beautifully.

That was a lot of Death and Black Metal! But what can you ask more than Metal and Beer? Sounds like Heaven to me. I really enjoyed my time, and I'll be there next year for sure! \m/

Let me know what you think about the gig/the bands, or tell me when one of them is gonna play again!

Cheers!
