Metalhead in Munich: Darkness over StuSta - 30.04.2014

Darkness over StuSta - 30.04.2014

Servus!

Is there a better way to end a long and stressful day than a Metal Gig? What if , for this concert, good bands are playing, beer is cheap and friends are attending it as well? It sounds like an awesome night, right? Well, the stars were aligned on Wednesday night, when the Darkness took over StudentenStadt.

I set Fire

BAM! Awesome growling vocals right into your face! I like when Metal hits me like this. I was impressed by this band I've never heard of before. This nice voice was accompanied by a melodic death metal. They describe themselves as Modern Metal. Am I getting it wrong, or is it a synonym for New Metal? If it's the case, I would not put this label on them. They don't sound New metal to me, at all. This being said, this is just a word, and words don't matter. What matters, is how the band sounds. I set Fire sounds good. Pretty good. They are a great discovery. I enjoy the thought of seeing them again! Thumb up their Facebook Page, and watch the videos they've posted!

Dissorted

I've heard good things about them before the gig, and I was not disappointed. This was a good Trashy music. I am a fan of their guitar riffs, fast and effective, with amazing solos. Good drum tempo as well. For what the vocals are concerned, they are very good too, but because of the damn microphone, which decided to stop working properly, the singer's voice lost its power a couple of time. The performance itself was great! The singer was all over the place, ran and jumped everywhere, he was obviously having fun, which is always nice to see. I'm gonna hunt down their next gig, to see how they are with a bigger public and without technical difficulties. Check them out!

Awakening Sun

Two words: Holy Metal! These guys just astonished me, and everyone else I'm pretty sure. They play a kinda Groovy Melodic Death Metal. I'm so bad to describe music. But whatever label you want to put on them, they are terrific. The vocals are perfect, so are the guitars. I've found their sound very balanced, everything arrived at the right time. I can't say enough good things about them. These guys should be known. I deeply hope they will, because their music is simply incredible. This was their first time in Munich, and hopefully not the last. They might come back in October, so check them out, and stay tuned!

The only thing I have to say is:  Fix the damn microphone!

Great Night! Thanks to the Band and to the organization!

Cheers Metalheads! \m/
